WOMEN’S ORGANIZATIONS
St. Ann’s Society- Church of the Immaculate Conception The St. Ann’s Society has chosen as their patroness, St. Ann, the mother of the Immaculate Virgin Mary and the patroness of Christian mothers. The society was originally made up of the married women of the parish and was canonically erected on October 4, 1896, making it the oldest society in the parish. The confraternity of the holy Rosary was established in the lifetime of St. Dominic and is under the direction of the Dominicans. The objective of the confraternity is to promote recitation of the rosary.
Our Purpose - The St. Ann’s Society was organized to assist members in more faithfully fulfilling the duties of Christian women. Today’s society is comprised of the catholic women of the parish age 18 and older who are registered members of the parish. Registered members of St. Ann’s are required to say the entire rosary (15 decades each week). We pray in unity the third Thursday of each month after mass. The St. Ann’s Society’s primary fundraiser is offering catering services for weddings and other events at the parish hall. With the funds raised through these events, the society can make donations to various charities, support the Pro-Life Movement, fund the Christmas Basket Project, and give financial aid for persons who need assistance for various reasons. The society provides funeral luncheons upon request. When needed we help purchase necessities for the church as well as the parish hall. These are just a few of the things we do. Registered members under age 70 pay a yearly membership fee of ten dollars.
The Altar and Rosary Society- Church of St. Luke The Altar and Rosary Society has been an active part of the church for decades. It is open to all parish women age 18 or older. Our mission is to unite all women of St. Luke’s Parish in religious, educational, and social activities, and to assist the pastor in spiritual and material undertakings for the welfare of the parish. We manage church dinners, along with other fundraisers, and coordinate volunteers for holiday and dinner church cleanings, and take on other altar related duties as needed. Proceeds from fundraisers are used for the benefit the parish, including upgrading kitchen equipment, altar decorations, and other spiritual or material needs. Our annual Christmas dinner, open to all adult women, is second to none for fun and fellowship. New members are always welcome. Meeting notices are posted in the bulletin.
Needless to say, Women’s Organizations have an essential role to play in the worship and praise that the Church offers to God. The ministry, done well, serves not only God, but the people of God, the church.
